Get to Know Me: The Face Behind Patricia Pattern

🎨 A Lifelong Love for Art (and Books!)

Art has always been a huge part of my life. As a child, you’d usually find me either drawing characters from books or getting lost in one. Not much has changed… to be honest, I still love doodling, creating, and I’m usually halfway through a book/audiobook.

💛 How Patricia Pattern Was Born

Patricia Pattern was born during the strange blur of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was working as a key worker but had lots of quiet hours in between shifts. I started drawing again to unwind, and soon found myself researching how to turn my art into something more. I absolutely loved the idea of opening my own little online shop, a place where my doodles could live beyond my iPad. I began with just one enamel pin, and instantly fell in love with the process of turning my art into something I could hold, wear, and share with others.

The name Patricia Pattern came from a mix of personal roots and artistic obsession. Patricia is my middle name (a little nod to my Portuguese background), and I’ve always had a soft spot for quirky, bold, and beautiful patterns. It just felt right.

🖊️ Creative Freedom & Beautiful Chaos

My favourite part of running Patricia Pattern is the creative freedom. I decided early on that I didn’t want to stick to a specific niche or theme. I love too many things to box myself in! My art tends to follow my mood, some days it’s soft florals, other days it’s grumpy stickers or sassy quotes. It’s beautifully chaotic, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

🛍️ From Online to In Person and 

It’s definitely been a learning curve over the past few years, from figuring out manufacturers to navigating markets and running a tiny shop alongside a full-time job but I’ve loved every second of it. This might not be my full-time gig (yet!), but it’s one of the most joyful parts of my life.

🌱 Still Learning, Still Loving It

More recently, I’ve started booking myself into local craft and gift markets and honestly, it’s been the best decision. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of someone stopping by, giggling at the sassy badges, or letting out an “aww” at the cute pins. Seeing people connect with my work in real life is such a buzz and it makes all the behind-the-scenes chaos completely worth it.
